Unstampabelles Challenge #30 - Christmas (No Stamps)

This month's Unstampabelles Challenge is my final challenge.
I have decided it is time to move on as our kids have finished school now and I have a feeling that 2014 will be full of unexpected surprises.  So just downsizing on some commitments.  The wonderful and terrific Susan of 'Time to Play' has put her hand up to take on the challenges.  Susan said she will keep the same format but just add a new twist…..so keep your eye out.

We are also saying farewell to Lauren who has been a wonderful support and given us terrific inspiration with all here scrap pages.  And Cathy who has been with Unstampabelles since the very beginning and helped me to no end.  Cathy was always there to help putting a post together when I ran out of time or was busy holidaying somewhere.  Thanks so much to both of these ladies.

So for December we have made it easy on you as all we are looking for are Christmas paper crafts with no stamps used (rubber or digital).   If you enter you have chance of winning this prize pack that I have put together.

I have always wanted to create a gingerbread house but living the tropics I don't think the weather would be too kind to it.  Also I think the ants would find it in a heartbeat.  So decided I would try making a paper version.  I found a great template and tutorial here.  I used Stampin Up Soft Suede for the house, SU Wild Wasabi for the windows and SU Naturals White for the roof.  I went through my scrap paper box and cut a variety of coloured circles which I then topped with Diamond Dust to make them look like jubes.  Also added some Diamond Dust to the windows and step.  The cute gingerbread man I bought from Blue Edge Crafts. I didn't have a working white gel pen but found a corrector pen that did the job nicely.  Added three brads for his buttons.  When I took this photo I knew there was something missing but not sure what.  Asked my daughter when she returned home….answer…. 'icing'.

It was a little fiddly but I added icing by cutting 1cm strips of card stock with a wavy edge on each side then cut this in half and attached to the edges of the windows, door and rooftop.  I am much happier now.

The foil candy canes I received from the lovely Kerry in a gift at the Craftmad get together.

The foil trees were from Kerry also.

I hope you join in this wonderful challenge.  Be sure to stop by Unstampabelles and see what the rest of the amazing Design Team have come up with.  You will be truly inspired.  Advent calendar, cards, PEACE ornament.

Have a wonderful day.

Thanks to Julene I would like to enter my Gingerbread house into the December Archi-scraps challenge.

  13. Great ginger bread house and definitely ant proof! We had the house spiderproofed last week and also made an effort to decimate the ants -still cleaning up the little black bodies everywhere! Hope it lasts for a while. Your house shows your love of crafting - thanks for giving me the opportunity to be on your DT and for all your help now.

  15. Ohhh, I LOVE your Gingerbread house Merry - so creative how you made it. My DD keeps asking to make one (the biscuit kind) so now that I have seen your papercraft one, I think we will make this one instead. What a fab idea!

When my girlfriend moved from Melbourne to Brisbane, she took all her bread-dough craft items (you know how they were all the rage at one point?) that she made with her. She had a rather large basket that sat in the middle of her dining room table and one day she lifted it up to find that a family of cockroaches was living underneath it and eating away at it. I think I heard her scream from here - and she threw out ALL her bread dough items after that LOL! She says that if the mould doesn't get to things up there, the insects will!
