Cardmadfairy Digi Days - #17 Is it too early for Christmas?

Hi everyone we have a new challenge happening over at Cardmadfairy Digi Days.

We in the Design Team were lucky enough to have the chance to play with Jenni's new images.
I chose the image called "Just Elfing Around".
I decided to make a criss cross card for this creation as I have seen a few around in blogland and have never tried one before.  So I used some blue Bazzill bling as the base card then some wonder Christmas Brights Combo paper.  So love the wonderful colours.  The elf I coloured with my copic pens and gold metallic pen.  Behind the first elf I have used another of my new Spellbinder dies - Labels 18.  I then ran the die shape through a Merry Christmas embossing folder.

I can't wait to see what christmas creations you all come up with so hurry and enter.
Don't forget to use a digi image and if you use a Cardmadfairy image you can enter as many times as you like.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone...catch up with you on Monday.

Sympathy Card

Hi everyone, I have decided to add a Sympathy card to my collection.  Theory being I have never had any on hand and I have needed way too many in the past couple of years.  If I have one on hand I shouldn't need it.  Hope it works that way.

I started with one of the wonderful new shaped cards from Blue Edge Crafts and also one of their lovely Rose pre cut paper tole images.   These are lovely and thick and have a nice shine to them   I went around all the edges of the undersides of the image with my embossing tool just to give a bit of shape to the rose.  The sentiment I printed out from my computer.  I found some wonderful grey metallic card and this lovely silver and white patterned paper in my stash.

Well I hope you all have a happy Friday.  I will be back later today with a card for the new Cardmadfairy Digi Days challenge.  Yes, two weeks are up already.

Thanks

This card is for the winner over at Unstampabelles.  Normally my original creation for the challenges has been a Thank You card but I had so much fun making the owl I almost forgot this month.

I decided to use this month Craftmad Card Sketch Challenge to start the card with.
The card started as a plain white card to which I added a layer of red Bazzill cardstock then a layer of paw print paper which I have had forever.  I added black border stickers around the bottom section of the card.  I made the 'Thanks' sentiment from random letters off a rub-on sheet.  This rub-on sheet of greetings has gotten all scratched and some letters coming away. Disappointing that I can't use the sentiments on the sheet properly.  Maybe it is old.
I then cut out these three Spellbinder Crown Circles.....new to my collection and first use.  Then added the three black dog stickers.  Finished to of the circles with little black leftover sticker dots around the edge.

So this card would be great for our current Unstampabelles challenge - Animals. Check out all the other entries.

Holly Tree

Middle of the week. :-)

Yes, my stash of Christmas cards are starting to grow.
Today I have used this fun Holly Tree image from Cardmadfairy.  So much fun to colour with my Copic pens.  I attached some flatback pearls to finish off the tree. I have attached it to this wonderful shaped card on top of a layer of torn mulberry paper.  The inside of the card I found this lovely diamond patterned green paper and attached the vertical Merry Christmas sticker.  The off cuts of the sticker I thought nicely finished the front of the card.

Happy Wednesday everyone, a really slow day planned here.  If my teenage son gets up in time we may go in search of a suit for his up and coming graduation (November).

Pink Christmas Owl

Hi everyone, today is so much slower and nicer.  :-)
Todays card came about as I wanted to do my second 'Pink' entry into the CraftMad Girls Night In competition.  Also I spied a challenge over at Mad for Markers all about the Copic Blender Pen and thought I should try that as I really don't use my blender pen much.  I use it for my mistakes.
My friend Helen was kind enough to lend me her Annie's Attic Copic Colouring Guide book which I read the same night as I discovered the challenge.  It has a lot of handy info about colouring and using the Blender Pen.  I discovered the Copic Blender Pen is full of alcohol solution and no pigment.  When you use it near a colour it actually pushes the colour away from it.  Here I was thinking it was sucking my mistakes up.  It was actually pushing them back over the line.

Ok, my card.  I started with the sketch from over at Sketch Saturday.  Out came my white base card which I layered with Stampin Up (SU) Pretty in Pink which I have run through an embossing folder.  Next a layer of SU Rose Red.  The wavy pink paper were scraps I found in my collection which I topped with the SU patterned paper.  I used my Spellbinder Scallop Edged Circle to cut out this fantastic Owl image from Cardmadfairy.  I coloured it with my Copics and yes, my blender pen got a work out although most of it you can't see.  On the branch I used the blender pen along the top edge to lighten the brown so it looked like snow and I added the Kindy Glitz.  The furry bits on the hat I tried my first time at feathering with C1 grey and then going over with the blender pen just to give a nice soft edge to it...then covered with Kindy Glitz.  In real life you can still see all of this.  Then with the blender pen I added the dots to the hat.   Nope, didn't add any Kindy Glitz. lol
Finished the the card with a thin strip of SU Rose Red and a 'Glad Tidings' rub on.

Wishing you all a terrific Tuesday.

Christmas Robin

Hi all, I am just a tad late today.  Started the day slowly with a nice walk with our dog.....then it seemed to get busier and busier.  Just finished organising an excited husband to fly to Sydney to watch his favourite Rugby League team Manly in the Grand Final this coming Sunday.  This now means there is an excited Mum down in Newcastle that will be keen to catch up with her son for the weekend.  Possibly a not so excited sister that has to spend time with both brother and Mum as they will be staying with her.  :-) and......she will be accompanying her brother to the Grand Final and she doesn't go for either team. lol

Okay, time to get on to my card.  A little bit more christmas.  I was so keen to use this beautiful holly paper.  I do like holly at Christmas time.
I started with a white card then a layer of red cardstock, then this lovely patterned paper.  The sentiment is a gold rub on.  I cut the image out with my new oval Spellbinder die.  I have coloured this cute Robin image with my Copic pens and added a touch of Kindy Glitz to the branches.  Finished with the wonderful red organza ribbon.

Bright Christmas

Hi everyone, I will have to be using my scanner for the next week as my daughter has taken my camera away on Guide camp. I have never used the scanner before...it's not that bad.

I have made a start on some more Christmas cards.
This one I started with a blank white card then a layer of purple Bazzill card.  Next came this wonderful new combo Christmas paper from Blue Edge Crafts.  I just love the colours.  The blue strip is sandable Bazzill Card each comes with an embossed shape....this has a star shape which I thought was perfect for the card.  I used my emery board to sand it back a little.  I cut three pink trees from a scrap of the combo paper to add to the blue strip.  I have tied some twine across the top .....this twine is all the way from my friend Ilo in Germany.  Thanks Ilo.  Added a silver rub-on sentiment.  Now the image is a Mo Manning design....I so love colouring her artwork.  I have used my copic pens, a touch of Kindy Glitz and Dimensional Magic on the globe.

Wishing you all a fantastic weekend.
I plan on a little crafting, time with hubby and catching up with a couple of girlfriends.
See you all Monday.

Daffodil Thanks

Morning everyone,  I am having a love, hate relationship with this card. :-)
One moment I like all the colours then the next there is just too much happening.
The daffodil paper tole is the other image that came on the same sheet as the roses I did earlier here.
I do really like the gloss on this paper as the flowers come up so lovely and yes, it is a diecut sheet so makes me smile even more.  I embossed around all the back side edges of the image and then layered it up with my silicone glue.  Which I like as I can control the height between the layers.  I then attached it to this corrugated card which I attached to the card front.  I added some yellow spots to the card front, rub on Thanks and a couple of black sticker flowers.  The inside I layered up with Stampin Up More Mustard and patterned paper.

We have been having a fun, relaxing time so far this school holidays.
I love not having to be anywhere at a certain time.  Been shopping for some clothes for my daughter and even visited three of our beaches the other day.  We don't tend to get over that side of Cairns very often.  It was so lovely sitting on the beach reading my book.
Happy Thursday to you all. :-)

Pyramid Christmas Card

This card today will be perfect for those standby cards at Christmas time.  Or if you are new to card making and would like to send a little something special that has been handmade by you.
This card all comes in one sheet that has been die-cut this includes the actual card that has this terrific snow scene printed on the front with all the wonderful silver highlights.
So I just pressed out the card from the sheet and then pressed out the layers of the Pyramid image.  Used my silicone glue to layer them up and attached to the card.  Next I had four sentiments I could choose from......I like the way Seasons Greetings fit on the card.
There are few more kits available too that I wouldn't mind trying.  There is one with a robin on the front and another with polar bears, oh and of course santa.

Sandra celebrating 21000 hits

Hi everyone, just want to share with you Sandra's wonderful candy that she has on offer to celebrate her blog having 21000 hits.  Be sure to visit as there are other prizes on offer and Sandra has such lovely creations to show.
ends 18th October.

Paper Tole Christmas Card

This morning I have so many new things to share with you.  I am so lucky to be able to play with these new embossed shaped cards and StudioLight Paper Tole Christmas Sheets from Blue Edge Crafts.

How lucky to have Sarah Kay images as Paper Tole for Christmas.  Even better these sheets are all die cut so they just push out really easily.  I then go around with my craft knife and cut the little nodes off.  Not really necessary, just me being a neat freak.  I then layered this image up using my silicone glue and attached him to this wonderful shaped card.  It's hard to see in the photo but the rectangle front is embossed. I added the stickers to each corner and wonderful patterned paper to the inside with a gold sticker border.

Just showing the layers.

My other exciting news is the new InLinkz Tool that you can use to display links to all your supplies.
I visit Kathy on her amazing blog 'The Daily Marker'.  Kathy does the most amazing colouring and shares her clever techniques.  Ages ago Kathy mentioned that she was trialling the InLinkz Tool and that it would become available soon.  Well today Kathy has shared a coupon so that you can use this tool free until December.  I can't resist something new so have had a play and love it.  Hope it doesn't cost too much when they start charging.  Anyways, visit Kathy's blog for the coupon and a wonderful video tutorial on how to use the gadget.

Happy Monday everyone.......1st day of school holidays here.

Cardmadfairy Digi Days - Lots of Layers Challenge

Hi everyone, can you believe it is time for a new challenge at Cardmadfairy Digi Days.
Thanks to everyone who joined in our last challenge it was so much fun visiting everyone and seeing your terrific creations.

This time our challenge is "Lots of Layers" and our sponsor is the terrific Bugaboo Stamps.

We hope you will play along with us this week but please remember that you must use a digi stamp although it's not necessary to use a Cardmadfairy one although it would be fantastic to see how you would use our images. Please remember though to only enter the challenge once unless you are using Cardmadfairy imageswe will have to delete any extra entries which don't comply with our rules.

For my card I have decided to start with the sketch from over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday #119.
I started with a blank white square card.  I then used a patterned paper from a magazine giveaway.  Created a frame from Stampin Up Taken With Teal card, then Stampin Up More Mustard and Riding Hood Red.  This was then topped with a piece of gold origami paper given to me by the Japanese student that stayed with us last year.  I coloured in this fantastic Bugaboo Stella image.  I used my copics and gold metallic pen.  Finished with the pearl brad from Pizzazz Aplenty.  Also lots of bling to match the sentiment.

Now it is your turn to show us all your LAYERS at Cardmadfairy Digi Days.

3D Paper Tole Rose - Birthday

Friday is here an end to a very hectic week also and end to the kids term three.  They are now on holidays for two weeks so if I come and go over that time we will be out keeping them from being 'bored'.  :-)

Today I have a card that I was asked to make for a friend, for her friends 75th Birthday.
I so enjoy these Joy Fold cards as they are just a little different from the normal card and I can use more papers.

I started with a square blank white card,  cutting the front panel in half and then creating a smaller pink card for the right hand side.  The green background is Bazzill card stamped with a flourish from my Stampin Up Priceless set.  Front left panel has some Pink Bazzill Bling and a lovely white cross grain ribbon from Mei Flower.  The front of the little card the patterned paper is a magazine giveaway which I have hand stitched around the edge.   The sentiment is computer generated.  And lastly and by no means least this beautiful rose is from a StudioLight Die Cut Paper Tole Sheet I have.  So it was easy to push out all the pieces (no cutting).....I then go around with my craft knife to cut off all the little nodes.  Then I go around the back edge of all the pieces with my embossing tool while they are sitting on a mouse pad....just to curl the edges under a little a give some texture.  Then I layered the pieces up.  I so love the gloss and the colour of this rose.

Showing all the layers.

Showing the fold.

Beccy's Flannel Flowers

Morning everyone.   What a lovely Thursday we have here....still a little cool to start with but heating up during the day.  The dog and I have been for a walk and now time to get those kids up and moving. :-0
The card I have to share with you today was the card that my MIL chose to give to her friend for her 70th Birthday.

I started with  a square white blank card and cut the front panel in half to create the Joy Fold card.  I made a smaller white card to add to the other side of this panel.  The bottom section I lined with the lovely patterned paper that I am sure came from a magazine giveaway.  The left hand side I covered with this wonderful brown glitter paper.  Inside this panel I have added a piece of white card embossed with my Victoria embossing folder.

The smaller card I layered with brown paper then this fantastic Flannel Flower image from Beccy's Place.  I have coloured it with my Copics and once again at how wonderful the colours have turned out with my small supply. I then did some faux stitching around the edge, a bit of bling each corner.  Printed the sentiment off from the computer.

Showing the way the fold works.

Trying to show the embossing on left inside panel.

Girls Night In - Pink Challenge

Hi everyone, I have been wanting to do this card for the past week.  Craftmad are having a Girl's Night In on the Friday, 22nd October.  As a lead up they have two competitions running.  First comp is to discover all the Pink Words being posted now and up till 17th October.  Second comp is the "PINK competition" where you can enter twice with your "PINK" craft projects.  So today I sat down to make a start on one of my entries.  I found in my collection this lovely 3D Helene Pyramid so next I went in search of a sketch for the card and found this fun looking sketch #121 at Midnight Madness .

Next thing was to put the card together.  So out came my Stampin Up Pink Pirouette to make the base card.  Then a layer of Stampin Up Rose Red next a layer of this pretty floral patterned paper.  I then added columns of Rose Red which I have embossed in my Stylised Flower embossing folder.  Added square bling to the bottom of each column.  I added punched flowers to the end two columns and a little bling in the centre.  Across the top I punched small flower holes so I could thread through this lovely ribbon.

This card would be ideal for our current Unstampabelles challenge.  The theme is ANIMALS......cute puppy and the bonus entry technique is dry embossing.  We would love to see your entry if you have a dry embossed, or parchment paper, or stitched or paper punched etc project.

Beccy's Gerberas

Morning everyone!  My MIL asked if I would make a card for one of her friends 70th birthday.  I always make two cards so that people have a choice.  So I am afraid this was the loser.   However, I really like how it turned out.
It is an easel card and I started with a blank white card then a layer of Blue Edge Combo paper.  I layered up the image panel with Stampin Up Almost Navy and wrapped some binding thread under the gerbera's.  I threaded beads on also.  Finished with all these wonderful sticker sentiments.
Now the gerbera images....they are three different images and all from the talented Beccy over at Beccy's Place.  Beccy kindly offers her images free.  I have coloured these with my Copic Pens.

The last of the Chocolate Box Cards

Well Thursday disappeared in a flash, didn't even get a chance to post.

Today I have the last two of the chocolate boxes I made. I started with Stampin Up Pink Pirouette and Kaye's wonderful tutorial over at Craftmad.  Next I added this cute Blue Edge Owl Combo paper and the diamond patterned paper. I teamed the papers with this cute Owl image from Whimsy Stamps.  I am so happy with how she turned out.  I coloured her with my Copic Pens and finished with a touch of Kindy Glitz.  Then added a silver sticker sentiment.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

I really like how this one turned out ....so much fun for a kids birthday.

This time I started with Stampin Up Orchid Opulence and teamed it up with Blue Combo papers - Past Spodia.  I layered the image up with some Stampin Up Pumpkin Pie.  Isn't this the cutest image ever he is from Stampfairy and bonus...he is free.  I coloured him with my Copics.  I am constantly amazed at how well I can match my limited Copic range to almost any papers I use.  Finished the card with this fun white sentiment sticker.

Well that is it for me this week.  I wish you all a wonderful weekend and terrific weather.
No huge plans for me for a change....just might quietly sneak in and do a little cardmaking. :-)

Engagement Cards

I was asked to make an engagement card for my friends daughter.  How exciting, I have watched this girl grow up from Primary school and she has grown into such a lovely person.
I decided to make two cards and gave my friend the choice and whichever was left I would give to the happy couple.

So the top card is the one I gave to the couple.  I started with Stampin Up Very Vanilla as the base card then a layer of Stampin Up Rose Red.  Next was this lovely paper from a magazine giveaway.  The side panel I layered up and pin pricked both edges of the Very Vanilla panel.  I created two hearts from red wire and stitched them to the panel.  Finished with some bling and a gold sticker sentiment.

I would like to enter this card into this challenges:

I started with a white square card which I cut the front panel in half to create the Joy Fold.  The inside panel I layered up with black card and then Blue Edge Combo paper - Damask Designs.  The front left panel I ran some black card through my 'Victoria' embossing folder and added three bling.  Then the smaller card I layered up with some more of the Damask Designs.  Finished with silver sticker sentiments, red ribbon and a wonderful heart brad.

Gift Cards from Scraps

Hi everyone, I have been cleaning out my scrap box that seems to be growing faster than my paper collection at the moment.  I really enjoy the challenge of just using the papers that are in my box and then adding mostly sticker embellishments.
A busy day for me.....hope you all have a good one and I will catch up with you again tomorrow.

These wonderful horse stickers are from the Sticker Store.

Unstampabelles Challenge - Animals - DT creation

Goodmorning everyone, today I have a paper bag owl as my DT creation for our new challenge over at Unstampabelles.  This months challenge #3 it is all about ANIMALS and the bonus technique challenge is dry embossing.

We are looking for all types of papercrafts with NO STAMPING.
Challenge closes 30th September and Winner announced 3rd October
This is the wonderful prize on offer from one of our very own DT members

I felt like trying something other than a card and happened upon these paper bag owls at here and here which I used as my guidelines.

So I started with a plain brown paper bag that I used to use for the kids tuckshop lunches in primary school.  Firstly, I crumpled up two pages of magazines to put in the bottom of the bag. I started by cutting down each side about 5cm.  I cut away the front section of this flap then on the back section I cut the flap into a triangle shape.  This triangle flap I folded to the front and just folded a little hem in around the edges to neaten it. I then adhered the flap and creased the corners to create his ears.  Each corner at the bottom of the bag I folded under a small triangle and adhered with sticky tape just to give the owl a little shape.  Next I dug out my circle Spellbinders and three different papers to cut his eyes.  The base layer is a yellow metallic paper which I have folded and creased to add some texture.  Next is a hand made paper with a gold fleck through it.  Lastly, a black circle which I snipped a small triangle out.  I then found some scrap brown paper and created his beak.  Lastly, I used my deckled edged oval Spellbinder to cut more of the handmade paper with the gold fleck.  This is for the owls chest.  I ran this oval through my Diamond in the Rough embossing folder as I thought it resembled feathers.

A closer look at the dry embossing.

Oh one more bit of exciting news.
Over at Feline Playful where I find all my challenges to enter due to some wonderful ladies that update the lists daily.  They are having a big blog hop/party (21 Sep to 27 Sep).  Unstampabelles is offering a prize of Guest Design Team member for the month of October with a small goodies bag.

Cardmadfairy Digi Days - Add some Flowers challenge - DT card

Hi everyone, I am back.....with my DT card for the new Cardmadfairy Digi Days challenge.  This time we want you to add some flowers.  I have used one of Jenni's brand new digi images.   This is called Imogen and she is so much fun to colour.   I have coloured her with my Copic pens.  I started the card with a blank white card.  Then added a layer of Stampin Up More Mustard.  Next was a layer of this lovely orange flower patterned paper that has come from a magazine giveaway at some stage.  The bottom section of the card is Bazzill card which has been run through my Bloom Dots embossing folder.  I punched out a small flower in each corner of the topper and added a small bling centre to each.  It's hard to see in this photo but I have added more white punched out flowers to the background of the image.  To the side I have used these lovely new metallic flowers from Blue Edge Crafts.  I have layered them up and finished with a small bead.

Here is a closer look at all my flowers in the background.

I hope you can join us in this challenge as I would love to visit and see what you do with your flowers.

Happy Birthday Jacob

Friday is here and the second day of September....time is speeding along.

Todays card I created for my friends sons 15th birthday.  He has been known to sit in front of the computer or xbox for a little while each day.  So I thought this image from Mo Manning was very apt.  I have coloured him with my Copic pens and really like the end result.  Although I did colour in a little too much ..... can you spot my mistake?
To make the card I started with a blank white square card. Then a layer of Stampin Up Perfect Plum.  Next is a layer of paper I received as a prize.  I have attacked the edges of all the paper and card stock with the edge of scissors to give them a distressed look.  Even tore the green patterned papers a couple of times.  Thought it could not look too neat for a 15 yo boy.  Finished with the card with these wonderful brass looking star and square brads.  Also a quiet little Happy Birthday sticker.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and I catch up again with you on Monday with my DT card for our new Unstampabelles challenge.  You still have a chance to enter into this months challenge - Wheels.  There is a great prize on offer from Kelly and Kaszazz.

Chocolate Box Cards again

Hi everyone....wow...a new interface here at blogger.  It is just like going into a motel room for the first time and you have to open every drawer and door to see what hides in there. :-)  So far I am liking what I find.

I have more chocolate boxes for you today.  You can find the tutorial here at Craftmad.  This time i have started with Stampin Up Pumpkin Pie and then added Blue Edge Combo papers.....they match so well.  Next I coloured with my Copic pens this fun little image I have had in my collection for a while but never used.  Sadly, I don't know where I have gotten him from....if anyone knows can you let me know so I share the link. Thanks.   Finished this card with the gold sentiment sticker.

Isn't it all so yummy looking...all the chocolate colour.  This image I have coloured with my Copic pens and he was kindly sent to me by Stacie....and I am hoping she will update me as to where we can get him from.  I did write it down when making the card but I have since cleaned up my desk. :-0
Again, I have used a wonderful sticker sentiment to finish the card.   I do like these stickers as I can line  them up so easily, never smudge them and put them where I like.
