Hi everyone, Some things I have been up to.

Image
Hey everyone, I still exist, am very well (except for slight head cold at the moment) and enjoying life.    As always lately, I just can't fit it all in but what I am doing is fun.  Hoping your lives are full of fun too. Time to catch you up on the couple of crafting activities that I have done.  This card was for the Craftmad August swap which I actually finished on time.  The them was 'for the boys'.  I decided to go with a Male Thank You card in lieu of the regular birthday.  I saw a wonderful card over at Beccy's Place that I had to try and this is what I came up with. Remember to visit our Craftmad Pinterest Board to see what all the other lovely ladies came up with for this theme and the one further below.   Just another view. My second card for the August swap.  Sailing boats always seem to be a big thing for males so I dug out some fabric and cut to shape then machine stitched to the card.  I thought I h...

Tea Cosy, Knickerbockers and Dog Carrier Bag.

Image
I have been busy creating different things on this second week and last week of my holidays.  This is my finished tea cosy for the Mulgrave Settlers Museum annual competition .  It's by no means a winner but I did enjoy knitting again after about twenty years.  It will add to the number of entries. I think it is pom pom top heavy.  I found this fantastic technique for making pom poms which claims to be five times faster……and it was.   Visit Homemade gifts made easy to find out how.  Our daughter always knows how to make us laugh.  Here she is wearing it on her head when she arrived home.  I told her it was a tea cosy and she said I thought it might be, then she stands in front of the mirror and says "What are the two holes for"?   I said back to her while laughing…….. "IT'S A TEA COSY".  :-)  Her …… oh thats right. I put my hand up to help sew some costumes for the local high school musical.  M...

Sympathy Card

Image
Sadly, I had to make a sympathy card for the wife of one of the volunteers of the local museum who passed away.  I have had these wonderful lily stickers in my stash for a long time and this was perfect for my card.  So simply a bit of layering with white card stock which I ran through one of my embossing folders.  Sentiment is computer generated. Hope your day is a good one.

June Craftmad Swap

Image
For our June swap over at Craftmad ( Pinterest album here ) we had to copy/case/be inspired by earlier cards in our Pinterest album.  I chose Kaye's card below.  Dug out the Kraisercraft papers I was given at Christmas time and embellished with pearls and a doily.  I really like the end result. Card by Kaye For my second card I was inspired by the card I had received in an earlier swap from Kerry (below).  Kerry had done the weaving so neatly that it did look like a quick card to put together.  However, the weaving on each corner was fiddlier than I expected.  I chose the sticker which I adhered to card stock and cut around.  Decided that the lovely light blue glitter paper would make the perfect background and cut thin strips of blue, yellow and red, colours picked from the sticker. Card by Kerry Thanks for passing by.

Surprise…. a month….. wow!!!!! What have I been up to?

Image
I am surprised it has been a month since my last post…..I knew I had been busy but felt like it was only a couple of weeks.  I am now on two weeks holidays and hope to catch up a little.  Here are some photos to show you a little of what I have been doing.  The dog got a haircut,  :-)  He was not keen on looking at the camera but I had more patience than him.  I have still been doing my 6am walks with friends on a Saturday morning.  Coffee stop half way. Visited our son and girlfriend in Townsville, this is the view from their backyard. Our trip back home from Townsville we stopped off at the Cardwell Range Lookout and saw this amazing view of Hinchinbrook Island.  I flew to Brisbane for a weekend and spent the time with our daughter.  Fun girls weekend although a little wet.  Movies, food and catching up with a friend.  This was taken at Roma Street Parklands. View from our daughter's b...

Craftmad Christmas All Year Round Sketch #5

Image
Craftmad Christmas All Year Round Sketch #5 - see other creations here on our Pinterest Board. I have now caught up on the Christmas sketches over at Craftmad.  I really like the fresh colours on this card.  It was the piece of glitter paper that caught my eye and decided what colours I should use to colour the little fairy using my copic pens.  I layered everything up and ran the bauble and square card stock through a Christmas embossing folder I have. Another cute fairy image which I have coloured again with my copic pens.  A lot of fine work.  It doesn't show in the photo but the fairy wings and star have been coloured with my Stella by Wink pens and have a lovely sparkle to them.  After using glitter paper on my first card I had to find some more this card.  So more layering up and finishing off with embellishments from my stash. A manly style of Christmas card.  I had already coloured this poinsettia image with my...

Carftmad May Swap - Polka Dots

Image
Hi everyone, our swap theme over at Craftmad for May was Polka Dots.  I had so much fun putting these cards together.  Of course, I used Pinterest for inspiration and cards to case. Click this link to see my inspiration for this card.   I am not quite sure where the flower image is from as I had it printed three times in my stash ready for colouring.  Thought it was a digital stamp I had but can't seem to find it.  I coloured the image with my copic pens, cut out the flowers to create the different layers.  Die cut the leaves and the word Thanks.  Silly me was looking for a tiny piece of orange card stock for 'Thanks' that would match the flower.  After about five minutes of searching I suddenly thought 'cut it in white and colour with the same coloured copic pen'. Duh! I love this card, it just makes me smile.   This is the card I spied on Pinterest.   I used my Penny Black stamp "Thorny Affair".  Coloured him with my cop...
