Happy Birthday Amabile

Morning everyone, today I have a birthday card for a special friend Amabile.  A couple of us will be joining her for lunch.

On the weekend I finally got to and updated my Stampin Up folders with all the current colour cardstock.   So pretty.  Now I want to use up the bits and pieces left of the old colour cardstock before I cut into any of the new sheets.  I know it won't happen but this card I made a start. :-)

I started with a sketch from Midnight Madness Challenge #112.  Used a white base card then a layer of Stampin Up (SU) Blue Bayou and Groovy Guava.   I then added strips of the matching gingham which I have had forever.  Another layer of Blue Bayou and backed the image with the very last of my Purely Pomegranate.   This is an image from Cardmadfairy called All Dressed Up.  I have coloured her with my Copic pens and really please at how well I could match the colours in my limited collection.  The jewellery I coloured with gold metallic pen and a touch of kindy glitz to the flowers on the dress.  I also used my copic pens on some paper flowers so that they matched the rest of the card.  Finished with some waxed maroon coloured thread around the edge of the card.  Oh and the silver Happy Birthday sticker.

Hubby and I did not make it to the football on the weekend.  Not sure if it was the weather (showery) or his back that kept us away.  However, I found plenty to do in my now tidy craft room. :-)
Sunday we took a drive down to Bellenden Ker to see Jenny Glaze, a local artist.
The reason for our visit was I was the very lucky winner in the Cancer Council Monster raffle.  My prize is one of her artwork.   Jenny has been very generous and instead of just offering a certain piece of work offered us a choice.   Loved all the work that she showed us but most of it was just the wrong colouring for our decor or probably too modern.  I really love the faces that she paints and kept pointing them out.  Then she asked if we had kids and then offered to do a portrait of them.  Hubby and I were sold.  We have asked Jenny to do it in the style of the painted face on her home page.  Now we have to think of colour, size and get the kids in a good mood to pose for those couple of all important photos.

One other thing was Saturday night to help Amabile celebrate her birthday.  A friend and I went along to the local dance group get together which Amabile attends all the time.  I didn't get up and dance as I have two left feet and they all look like the knew what they were doing.  But it was such a nice night to sit and watch everyone in all finery as it was a ball gown and black tie event.  Everyone had a smile on their face.

Well that is all the news from me today.   Back tomorrow sometime.

I would like to enter into the following challenges:
