Hi all, hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are ready for another week.
I had a wonderful weekend with two terrific friends - Helen and Ruth.
More on that after I tell you about my card.
I created this card for Helen's son who turned 10 last week.
He loves cartoon characters and was so easy to baby sit when younger and he discovered our one an only copy of Looney Tunes. Every time he visited as a toddler he would ask to watch this video.
Now I believe he enjoys Smurfs but still doesn't mind Bugs Bunny.
The challenge was to use the Craftmad logo colours and add a touch of pink.
I dug out my Stampin Up Brights cards stock as I knew the colours I chose would work together.
Found this sketch on the net and started layering up.
On the blue card stock I have used my Versamark and a couple of spotty stamps to create the background.
I ran the orange through my Happy Birthday embossing folder. The pink layer I used a orange coloured ink and added some stars to give the pink a more manly feel. :-)
I downloaded this colouring in page image of the Looney Tune characters and coloured them with my copic markers. Such fun. The ten is a sticker I have had for a while.....I coloured it with my copic markers to match it with the card.
When I gave the card I added a $1.00 coin to the basketball for a bit of fun. Oh and a little extra cash on the inside.
The Garden Apartment that we stayed in was not the most modern but it was clean and perfect for what we wanted. Heaps of room and so very quiet. Would be perfect for a family. Also it has wheelchair facilities....not that we needed them but thought this was worth noting.
We arrived 2ish Friday and left 1ish Sunday arvo. Went out and had a lovely meal in one of the many restaurants at Trinity Beach. Lime Tree Restaurant...very nice although my friend Helen ordered a small plate serve and really there was not much on there at all. Ruth and I ordered from the All Day Bar menu and seemed to have just enough and it was yum. We then catered for the remainder of our meals. Me, doing ham and salad sandwiches for lunches. Helen on the yummiest Butter Chicken Curry and Ruth on egg and bacon muffins for breakfast. Yellow, champagne Saturday night certainly made for some interesting focusing on cardmaking. Tim Tams, chocolate covered dry cherries, dip and biccies. Oh yes and crafting until mid night each night. Friday night was the only time we left the room :-0 Managed to create 13 cards (which I will share gradually), relaxed, chatted and admired each others
work. Bagged our husbands and kids.
I was seated down the far end near the door. Yes, the room was rearranged. Lounge moved against the wall. Then we set up our two fold out tables with their dining table. Perfect fit, right next to the window for natural light and view of trees.
On the Saturday night I visited Craftmad to say a quick hello in the Girls Night In. Thanks goes to Kerry, Kaye and Mandy for organising the Create and Chat night. Certainly had fun playing the body part game. Rinny's answer gave everyone a good chuckle. How wonderful that I could combine most of Crafty friends on one night.
So now I am back home and reality has hit.
Had to put in an insurance claim for my sons car.
Someone has backed into his front bumper cracking it and busting his indicator. This unresponsible person didn't even leave a "I'm sorry note'. Thankfully, there was a witness who took notes. So fingers crossed we get some money back.
Today I have been attacking our bamboo....yes, I am a bit over bamboo, sorry to go on about it but I just love to share. lol
With all the rain last week the remaining half of the bamboo just collapsed.
This has sort of helped us as now we can get to it all.
Just don't want to do it. lol. Instead of spending our money on skips now we have found a terrific guy who said he would mulch it if we chop it all down. So that is what is happening.
This is what it look like last week while it was raining and collapsing.
A view from our carport taken on the weekend.
The pile I have cut today.
Now what it looks like.
