Craftmad January Christmas Sketch Challenge

I am really going to try and stick to doing these Christmas Sketch challenges over at Craftmad this year.  I managed to do four last year and it was so handy to dig out those cards before Christmas and send them on their way.

So this is the first sketch for the year and the card above is what I came up with.

In the photo it looks a little busy but in real life I like it more. :-)

I started with some silver card stock then the beautiful blue christmas ornament paper.  I found a couple of die cut shapes in my stash and put them to use.  To create the tag, I thought this would be a good opportunity to use up some of my Christmas rub-ons that I have had a few years now and down to the last few on a sheet.  I next wrapped it with this wonderful fluffy ribbon from my stash which does have a bit of sparkle in it but doesn't show in the photo.

So one Christmas card done and many more to go.

  2. So how many Christmas cards do you actually send out every year? Do you have any left-over Christmas wrapping paper? I thought about using either that paper or repurpose old cards or the messed up gift bags (son loved putting those sticker labels on them, so I can't reuse them for gifts) for the images. Hubby finally got me a new key made for the shed. I've been looking for storage ideas on Pinterest and featured a couple on my blog. See ya!

    1. I think between 30-40 cards. So now I am two closer to that total..lol I do have a little left-over wrapping paper but that will be good to have ready for the end of this year. Mrs A's blog that I follow had a post about little origami boxes made from Christmas cards, she said she will post a tutorial soon. So keen to see that. http://itsanalienlife.blogspot.com.au/2015/01/a-pile-of-boxes.html Take care.

  12. HI! I've got a whole notebook full of ATC's ready to be swapped. I made them up when I was in an atc club here sponsored by a now defunct scrapbook store. I think I'll either take ones out of that notebook and spruce them up or make new ones. David finally got me a new key for the shed. Never did find the other one. I've got a flatbed trolley wagon full of stuff to take out there and put away. Why don't you join me in the ATC swap? By the way, I was at Findagrave last night and found another relative that is buried in a town about 20 miles away. I looked up a census record on another website and then went back to Findagrave and ran his name through a search engine and there he was, not too far from where his brother is buried! By the way, have you seen the letter I posted on my genealogy blog?

    1. Thanks for the offer of the ATC swap but I have just started back at work and we have a daughter moving out of home in less than a month so my mind and time is elsewhere at this moment. You sound like you have plenty to do in the shed now you have a key for it. Enjoy. :-)

  13. Great take on the sketch. The navy die cut looks just like corduroy material! Will post the tutorial for the boxes later this week.
