Thank You Soccer Coach

Hi everyone, thanks so much for visiting.  A friend asked me to make a Thank You card for her son's soccer team coach.  I panicked a little as I had nothing soccer in my collection or so I thought.  Yes, google to the rescue and I was inspired by some people using dies.  Perfect, I thought I have my hexagonal Spellbinder dies.......which when I found them I discovered they are Octagons.  So cut out about six from black and white card stock.  Then I placed them on a piece of white card stock this is when I discovered that soccer balls are actually made up of pentagon shapes.  I continued with my Octagons adhering them to white card stock then traced a circle shape and cut that out with my scissors to create the soccer ball.  I must say I am really pleased with the end result.  The base card is Stampin Up Wild Wasabi which I have a matching ink pad.  So I inked up my JustRite letters to create the sentiment. I added a layer of green glitter paper for the bit of bling.

Wishing you all a wonderful day.

Crew Cure - Relay For Life 2013

Time for some catching up as I just noticed some draft posts.  This one was all about the final details for our Relay for Life team.  We had a wonderful time and luckily for us not as cold as it has been in the past.  As always it was great to catch up with a lot of people and have the time to walk and talk.  Also a very moving time when the candles go around the track and remember those that weren't there on the night.  Team Crew Cure raised an amazing $2362.00.   Now on to our team outfit.  This year we were determined to look like a team and be uniformed.  So we started with $4.00ea caps, freezer paper (from US) and white fabric paint $9.00 for one tub.  I (and other team members) printed the word onto the freezer paper and cut around the lettering to create a stencil.  Then using a brush stippled the fabric paint through the stencil.

Let it dry and removed the stencil to reveal the word.

We also bought $5.00 Tshirts and stencilled and painted our names on the front.  I have just place the cut out letters on the shirt to show you the effect.  Forgot to take a photo of the finished project.

Next we needed a baton to carry around the track all night.  As we had a nautical theme going we decided on a life preserver.  I purchased a $2.00 blue swim ring.  Then wrapped medical strapping tape in four sections.  This was a little see through so I painted the tape white.  As I wrapped the tape I attached a white cord.

This is our daughter who couldn't help but be part of the fun. :-)

This year for the first time the organiser asked each team to have a letterbox for the front of our tents.  Apparently during the event we would get goodies in the mail.  I started with a cardboard box and cut and taped until I had a ship shape.  Then my I paper mached it.  Next my daughter took on the task of painting the ship in the same colours as we had on the banner that she help paint for us.

The ship....paint drying.  Sadly, I never did get another photo of this as I thought I would at the event but was having too much fun and forgot.

Team Crew Cure....the side of our tent with our major sponsor banner - NQEA.  Faces are blurred as I know a couple of our team members like to stay off the internet.

The front of our tent site with our bright team banner.

The End.

I decided that this would be my last Relay For Life.....I have done four now and feel it is time to try something new.  So my plan is to have 'A Biggest Morning Tea' next year in my backyard.

Catch up with you all soon.  I have whittled my blog feed from 700+ to 400+ so I will get to you soon.

Halfway Inspiration for Unstampabelles Challenge #26 Paper Dress

Hi ho.....everyone,  I am actually posting a card.  I really enjoyed sitting down Sunday morning and creating this card.  I think I enjoyed the challenge of remembering which box or cupboard had the crafting item I needed. :-)  We are so close to having everything back in the house, another week should do it and then I will share some photos.

This is my card for a little more inspiration over at Unstampabelles for our Paper Dress challenge.  I have enjoyed visiting all the entries as there are so many styles of paper dresses.  Very inspiring.  I decided to try my hand at an origami paper dress this time.  So I followed the tutorial put together by Christy here.  I have used all Stampin Up papers and card stock.....all very old but still pretty.

Hope to see your entry soon over at Unstampabelles and you will in the running to win the prize pack from Sticker Store.

We are home. :-)

Hi all, we have moved back home.  Renovations are not finished but we have our beds in our bedrooms and that is all.  The bathroom is tiled and the toilet and shower are operational but not that vanity sink.  So into the laundry we travel which has a sink and cupboard but no washing machine or dryer yet.  Kitchen is just the cupboards waiting for a benchtop and appliances.  So BBQ meals it is.  Saturday my hubby and daughter moved a lot of our stuff to the verandah or spare bedroom.  While myself and a friend (Helen) had a lovely day manning our stall at the Annual Gordonvale Pyramid Race.  Sunday, the three of us did more moving and this morning I finished off the last three bookshelves.  So the other half of the house is now hopefully clear enough for the painter to come in and finish off the remainder of the house.  I was up at 6.15am having a shower so I could have one before all the workers turned up.  Sat down for breakfast at 9.30am and now it is 10.25am and it still only me and our dog.  So much for a hive of activity at our house to finish it all off.
This photo shows our back verandah and was taken from where I am sitting to type this.

I am so happy to be home and not having to travel 30mins - 40mins through two sometimes three lots of roadworks each day.  I think this week will be the slowest......so close to the end.  Well I have paid internet now and am slowly going through my Feedly list.  Last night there were 738 posts for me to visit.  So may take me a while. :-)

Unstampabelles Challenge #26 - Paper Dress

Hi ho, everyone, yes I am back for a brief post.  Our renos are moving along very nicely now and fingers crossed we are home next weekend.  Renos not finished but less travel. :-)

Onto this post our challenge this month at Unstampabelles is 'Paper Dress'  I was checking out Pinterest for inspiration and I found it.  The link led me here (DeAnn's blog) to a wonderful cream dress made of mini cupcake liners.  I just had to have a try and this is what I come up with.  Pink mini cupcake liners, and the bodice and body form cut with scissors.

This month we have a wonderful prize pack on offer from Sticker Store.

So come on over to Unstampabelles and join in the fun.

I am sure that next week I will be back on here a little more.  Can't wait.  See you then.
