Craftmad March Card Swap - Just Because

This is my second card for the 'Just Because' March Card Swap over at Craftmad.  I again used the Kaisercraft - Kaleidoscope papers given to me by my Secret Santa starting with bottom paper of circles and circles became the theme.  I enjoyed using these jewels I have had in my stash as they are so sparkly and shiny.  Printer still out of action and still no stickers or rub-ons for the 'just because' sentiment but I remembered that I had  Just Rite set of alpha stamps.  Just perfect.

Thanks for visiting over my way.  Have a wonderful weekend.

After my shopping expedition

Sorry the photo is sideways....I quickly took it on my phone so I could show my parents what their birthday money had bought me.  :-)  Now I can't seem to rotate it.

My friend and I had a wonderful time in Babinda yesterday.  After spending a half hour trip in the car discussing 'That Sugar Film" (a real eyeopener of a film that everyone should watch) and "I Quit Sugar" concepts and that really it was a matter of going back to basics and cooking/baking from scratch and moderation, moderation.  We hopped out the car and went straight to Babinda Bakery and had the nicest coffee and for me a custard slice and my friend lattice apple slice.  So yum! So full of sugar but hey, not something we eat every day. :-)  Then it was up the street to admire the renovated furniture and kitchen items collected at Babinda Bargain Centre - Cootharinga North Queensland
next stop was Scrap Therapy  where my friend and I spent a couple of hours just wandering.  It was such a pleasure not to have to rush off anywhere and not to have anyone on the footpath wanting to move on. :-)  This is where I spent my birthday money from my parents.

Top to bottom

Coloured jewels, roller glue refill, a new gadget for me that rolls along the edge of the page and adds pin pricks, Christmas die words (joy, noel, happy, christmas, merry, holidays) sticker alphabet, tiny butterfly and bird dies, 2 x embossing folders one with music and one with flowers, new 'B' plates for my cuttlebug and lastly some glue to attach ribbon with.

We then headed over the road for a nice lunch at the Stag Tavern.

A brilliant day.

Craftmad March Card Swap - Just Because

Over at Craftmad during March our card swap was two 'Just Because' cards - (other member cards here).  This is one of them that I sent off to my partner.  I really enjoyed putting this together as I didn't have anyone in mind and didn't have to stick to a certain theme.  I found a sketch online that I liked and papers from Kaisercraft - Kaleidoscope that my Secret Santa sent me.  Aren't they just the prettiest papers.  I did ink up my one and only 'Just Because' stamp but it was just not right for the card.  Our printer is out of action at the moment and could not find one sticker or rub-on to use.  So I resorted to cutting the letters from a magazine and I am happy with the end result.

Hope your day is going well.  I am a tad excited as my friend and I are off to the tiny town of Babinda, just south of us, today for some coffee and to visit Scrap Therapy - craft shop.  Yay!

Just Because card to my nephew

The last of my Just Because cards to my family.  This is to my nephew who is only 5 and his 11yo sister taught him how to play chess.  I thought this imagine was apt.  It is a Hearty Craft topper from Blue Edge Crafts and I have attached it to a laser cut shape card from Blue Edge Crafts.  I cut little cream and brown squares to create the chess board background.  Then finished with a variety of border stickers and rub on to for his name.

Wishing you all a fantastic weekend.

Girl Talk Card for my Niece

This is the card I created for another of my nieces - just because I like to surprise them with snail mail.  Plus gives me a chance to catch up on the Craftmad sketch challenge, this is the March sketch (gallery here) .  I also get to use a lot of odds and ends in my stash.  This time a few stickers.  My last fairy sticker, the button I received in a craftmad swap.  Finished with the 'Girl talk' rub on.

Craftmad April Sketch challenge

Every now and again I like to send a card in the mail to my two nieces and nephew just so they can appreciate snail mail.  So I found this Hearty Craft 3D topper ready to go on my desk and then decided I would use the Craftmad April Sketch challenge (gallery here) for the layout of the card.  The topper helped me choose the colours.  Colours which I must admit I do not touch very often, not sure why as they are lovely and rich.

Now to work on two more cards. Have a wonderful day.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone.  As of Thursday I suddenly realised that I had not bought one easter egg or hot cross buns.  No kids at home anymore to remind me what time of year it is. So after work did a quick shop at the local store to rectify that problem.  Two packets hot cross buns and deciding that we didn't need a lot of chocolate between husband and me just bought this small packet of eggs to share.  Then my husband comes home from work and says he just put an easter egg in the back fridge for me.  ????? he never buys easter eggs, so I went and snuck a look and it looks a little flash so thought I would have to do something with this packet of eggs.

This is what I came up with.  I can't take any credit for the basket as it was made by my friend Ruth in a Stampin Up demonstration.  I had fun making these carrots using the orange papers that have been sitting in my stash forever.....not a colour I tend to use.   I turned sheets of paper into Sour Cream containers (Splitcoast Tutorial here). Wish I had had enough eggs for one more carrot.  However, I think it looks a bit flasher than the packet of eggs.

Just showing them individually.

Have a great day everyone.

The carrots I gave my husband with the egg that he gave me.  Not only a chocolate egg but full of Roses chocolates.  I will be sharing. :-)

Happy Easter everyone

I just had to share our (what I call) Rose of Sharon in our front garden.  Every morning I leave for work and it is full of white flowers. (click on photo for larger view)

Return in the afternoon and they have all turned this lovely shade of pink.  Just magic.  Of course, much prettier in real life.

Wishing you all a wonderful Easter.  I think all the campers in our area are going to win out for a change as the weather is just beautiful.  Four day long weekend and the start of school holidays for two weeks so there are plenty of people holidaying.

Take care and have a good one. :-)
