August Craftmad Swap - Frames

My second card I made for the Craftmad August Swap which we had to use a frame. Craftmad Gallery here. This card I used a lovely black felt frame sticker from my stash. I framed a lovely black rose sticker from Sticker Store. Teamed it with the lacy background paper.

How is your weekend going?  We got lots of gardening and burning off of gardening trash done yesterday.  Today, I hope to be sewing some quilt blocks which are way over due for the Craftmad Quilt block swap.

Frame it.....Craftmad Swap

Over at Craftmad this month we had to swap two cards using a frame.  Amazingly, I have finished both cards, mailed them off and my partner has received them and it is not the end of August.  :-0

This card started with the frame sticker that I have had in my stash a little while. I tried to match the colours of the frame with the card stock. Then used these lovely daisy stickers which I coloured with Copic pen to give a creamier colour to blend better with the background page. Thought I would try something a little different with HB rub-on......Happy Birthday. :-)  To finish off I punched out some small purple circles from card stock which I then covered in Dimensional Magic.

In other news.....the weather is starting to warm up, days are getting longer.  Been doing a bit of gardening and enjoying walking the dog.  I have even enjoyed moments in my craft room.  Last weekend spent cutting out all the squares and triangles ready for my block swaps at Craftmad till the end of the year.  Now to find time sew.

Take care and thanks for visiting.

Pop-up Present Card

So much for returning in a short while with this card.  Life just keeps me busy. :-)
So this is the second card I sent off for the July Craftmad Card Swap (gallery here).  We swapped two pop up cards, you can see my first one in the post below.  For the front of this card I used the Stampin Up balloon image that I had coloured with my Copics ages ago....lucky for me the colours worked well with the papers I was using.

Since the first swap card had a lot of detail I wanted to be a bit simpler on this one and have always liked seeing the pop up presents.  So I found a tutorial online and tadah! this is what I came up with.  So easy, fun and effective, I will have to do this style of card again.  The papers I have used are Avalon by Bazzill from Blue Edge Crafts.

Now what have I been doing to keep me away from the computer and card making.  All the regular stuff like housework, gardening and work of course.

We played and won our Touch Football grand final.

Visited Brisbane to see our son win Best Cinematographer for work on the Best Film.  This is an awards night to celebrate the completion of their Bachelor of Digital Film and Television.  So a wonderful and very proud time for us.  So wish I could share a link it for the film as it was such a nice easy film to watch with a lot of aaaaawww moments.

Helped out on a stall selling books at our Annual Pyramid race.  So got to spend the entire day chatting with one friend while we were able to cheer on another who (was silly enough) to be running the race for the 17th time.  This race is 12km long, 3km flat running to base of Walsh's Pyramid, (which is 922m high) 3km up, 3km down and then 3km back to the starting point and our friend did this in 1hr, 48mins and 42 sec.  Our friend holds the record for the fastest female which was achieved in 1997 with 1hr, 32mins and 6 sec.  Amazing!!!!  17 years later and she is only 16 mins slower.

This weekend we are chopping down trees that came down earlier in the year when a cyclone went through.  The trees have snapped off at the base and leaning on others so a big job to get them out.  We have been putting it off but the dead branches we see now are just not too attractive.  Next week is bonfire time. :-)

So till next time......take care and thanks for your lovely comments.

Pop Up Card - Koala

Our July card swap at Craftmad were Pop - Up cards (gallery here).  I have been wanting to sit and play with Pop-up cards for a while as I visit Dr Sonia's blog and she creates her own amazing Pop-ups.  Me, I needed templates but it was still good fun.  So for the front of this card I wanted to keep it simple and have the surprise of the pop-up on the inside.  So I used four of my embossing folders to emboss strips of card stock for the front.  I then used my Just Rite Stamps for the 'Sending Hugs' badge.

The inside I used a Kirigami pattern I bought from Easy Cut Popup back in 2012 and have never used.  I also bought a dragonfly Kirigami pattern at the same time and here is the card.  So I followed all the instructions, printed out the pattern, handcut the layers, embossed sections ready to fold and slotted them all into place.  Surprisingly easy, although you do have to be gentle when interlocking some of the layers.

I will be back soon with the other card I sent off for the Pop-up card swap....it is much more basic but just as fun.   Wishing you all a wonderful week wherever it takes you.

Thanks for visiting.
