Happy 13th Birthday Nellie

It was raining all day Sunday so I had nothing better to than craft the day away.  I so enjoyed it as I have not sat at my craft desk since mid June.  I made this card for my niece who turns 13 today...yes, another teenager in there world. :-)

I wanted it to be girly but not pink and pretty since she is a teenager now.   I found this Penny Black girl sticker in my collection.  She must have been holding balloons at one stage in her left hand but they had been cut off so I balanced some presents on her hand.  Firstly, I adhered the sticker to white card stock then hand cut around her, attached her to the card with some 3D foam.  I layered up some papers from my stash, using one of my Spellbinder border dies along the bottom edge.  Again used my fantastic Elizabeth Craft Design - Birthday die.  I am just in love with how easily they cut.  Finished the card with little banner using the scraps of paper from the background.

Wishing you all a terrific day and thanks for visiting. :-)

I am Grateful for........

Over at Time to Create, Alicia has started a Gratitude Link- Up.  I thought this was a lovely idea and found a photo to join in with.  I am Thankful for a lot of things but at the moment I am really thankful that my husband and I get to enjoy moments like these with our 18yo daughter before she moves out of home.    Our daughter is in the flannelette shirt next to the empty seat.  This was up at the Mareeba Rodeo last Sunday.

Thanks for visiting. :-)

Stitched Happy Birthday Card

Morning everyone, this is a card I started stitching while on the cruise in March.  Finally, got around to finishing it off.  The stitched pattern was already laser cut on the card and I picked it up from Blue Edge Crafts.  I thought the flowers should steal the show so stuck to a cream around the scallop edges hoping they look a little like lace.  Finished with a Happy Birthday die cut.

Thanks for visiting. :-)

27th Wedding Anniversary :-)

Yes, today hubby and I are celebrating 27 years or 9862 days of marriage.  We have had our ups and downs but I am happy to still have him here by my side. :-)

I spied this card idea on Pinterest and loved it so got to work doodling with my fine tip black pen, copics and water colour pencils - all freehand except for the punched hearts.  Very relaxing.

Wishing you all a terrific weekend and thanks for dropping on by.

Craftmad June Swap - Use Embossing Folders

A bright and cheery card for you today.  I made this for the June Craftmad card swap we had to use embossing folders on our card.  I think I covered that requirement.  This card by Sara inspired me.  I dug out a lot of my embossing folders and ran them through the Cuttlebug with different cut offs from my Stampin Up Brights collection.  I couldn't find a butterfly punch so opted for this star punch.  Took me a little bit but I figured out that if I cut the strip of colour then punched the star from the bottom right corner  this only ended up being part of a star shape and not usable on the card.  I had to punch a star to use from other card stock to slot into the punched out shape.  Hope that makes sense.  ;-)  Visit the Craftmad Gallery to see how the other ladies used their embossing folders.

It's another beautiful blue sky day here in Gordonvale.  Cool start and heading up to just the right warmth during the day. Perfect for climbing the Walsh's Pyramid as my daughter and I had planned but that won't be happening this week after all as my daughter has been called in for extra work.  Can't knock that back.  There is always next week. :-)

Have a great day everyone.

Enjoying the sunshine - Etty Bay and Gordonvale

Click on photos for a larger view.

Hi everyone, just wanted to share the beautiful day we had here on Sunday.  Our daughter was out so hubby and I decided to go for a drive and check out a couple of places.  So we headed south to Etty Bay, great caravanning or camping holiday spot for families. Only a small park so you would have to get in quick I imagine.

Hubby and I stopped and had lunch at the Fish and Chip shop and that is what we had.  Yum.   The whole experience was very family and fun.  I think it brought back wonderful memories for my husband who used to go on family caravanning holidays when he was young in NSW.  This was our view for lunch.  Next we drove to Flying Fish Point which is another nice little beach area.  Here we enjoyed a lovely coffee.  Hubby's cappuccino was in the biggest mug we have seen.

The view on the way home.....this is Walsh's Pyramid which my daughter and I hope to climb this coming week. (edit: thankfully our daughter picked up some work so won't be this week, but there is always next week) We had plans last Thursday but the weather decided to rain so that meant no view from the top.  I am not doing all that hiking and not having a view. :-)  The Great Pyramid race is gearing up and is to be held on the 9th August.  So a few people are running up for training.  Me, I have been climbed the Pyramid three times before and promised my daughter when she turned 9, I would take her up.  She is now 18 and has been nagging since then.  :-)  She plans on moving to Brisbane next year.....so it is now or never.

Another view of Walsh's Pyramid - 922m high.

The blue sky and sugar cane flowers.

Driving into Gordonvale if you click on the photo to enlarge  you can see in the centre on the far right hand side the Mulgrave Sugar Mill chimney stack.

Sugar cane in flower.

A field of sugarcane in flower and ready for harvesting.

Thanks for visiting and wishing you all a wonderful week.
