Gloria's 50th Birthday - Pop-up Box Card

My friend Gloria had her 50th birthday last Tuesday however, we all went out to tea with her on Saturday night at a lovely Palm Cove restaurant.  Gloria asked for no present but asked/demanded :-) that everyone crafty or not make her a card.  Easy I think.  However, there was a P.S. on the message for me - I was not to use my Cuttlebug or a stamp.  Now that is a challenge and a half as I use my Cuttlebug at least once for every card Dies or Embossing.  So I thought it was time to make another  Pop up Box card as I had so much fun with the cat version (here).  I started with some Bazzill card stock white and green and teamed it with the SU patterned paper.   My daughter had discovered a packet of rub-ons after cleaning out her room so I put them to use on the front of the card also adding some stickers and bling.

The inside of the Pop up Box I attached layered paper and fabric flowers to acetate and added two butterflies.  Finished with the Happy Birthday stickers.  I so love that all these fold down so neatly to fit in an envelope.  Such a great style of card.  This time I used the tutorial from Splitcoast Stampers.

Hope you all have a fantastic week and thanks for visiting.

Happy Birthday

This was a rush card. I had been invited to a combined birthday party. At the last minute thought I need cards. The lady turning 70 I was lucky to have one in my stash. However, male turning 75 not so lucky. I like the card but not as maleish as I was hoping for. I used Stampin Up paper and card stock, coloured the digital stamp with copics.   I was happy at how well I could match the copic colours to the papers.  Equally, as happy that I was actually colouring.  Something I have not done in a while.

Wishing you all a fantastic weekend.

Craftmad June Card Swap - Use Embossing Folders

Our card swap theme for June over at Craftmad (view gallery) was Embossing Folders.  I thought I would have another try at embedded embossing.  So grabbed out some of my SU colours as I knew they would work well together and cut out a range of circles.  I then attached them to the white card stock and run the lot through my SU Lattice embossing folder.  Topped it off with Happy Birthday cut with my Elizabeth Craft Die.

Thanks for visiting.

Quilt Blocks for Craftmad swap - Clay's Choice and Cluster of Stars

I fell a little behind on my sewing in May and didn't complete my Quilt Block for the swap over at Craftmad until first week in June.  We had to swap a Clay's Choice block and we are using traditional coloured Christmas fabrics this year.  This is a first for me to ad the oblong shape into a block.  With the instructions so very easy.  I always thought when I saw these shapes in blocks that they were actually cut to that shape and sewn in ........ wrong!  To make this shape you start with a rectangle and sew to small squares on diagonals to the top of the rectangle, trim and fold back.....tadah! a wonderful shape is formed.

Now this one I am definitely on time just have to get them in the mail now.  This is the June block for the Craftmad swap and we had to sew a Cluster of Stars block.  Another new technique......making 'Flying Geese' sections.  They are the ones in the middle on the outside edge.  Same as above you start with a rectangle and sew two small squares but on a different diagonal to create this shape.

I had run out of christmas fabric and happened to mention this one visit to my Mums.  Mum rummaged through her collection and happily passed on what she had....reducing her stash. :-)  The outside red fabric on this block actually had a sticker on it for 20c....it would have been at  least a metre square.  Bargain.

Hope your day is a good one.  Thanks for visiting.

Craftmad - May Swap - Use Dies

This is the second card I made for the Craftmad May Swap - use Dies.

Here I have used Stampin Up papers with my Marvelous Squares die. I saw this style while googling and have not used my dies in this way...enjoyed finding a new way to use them. The Thanks is a fabulous Elizabeth Craft die from Blue Edge crafts....they just cut so beautifully.

Have a great day and thanks so much for visiting.

Craftmad - May Swap - Use Dies

I have finally done a little crafting so I can now do a little blogging.  :-)
Life seems to have slowed down just a little but don't tell anyone.  I have caught up on a few odd jobs that have been hanging around for a while.  Found my craft desk last weekend that was a challenge.  So it is nice now to sit and know where everything is.  I even went through all my papers and gave to the local kindy about a ream of scraps and papers I have had forever but will never use.

This card is one I made for the May Swap over at Craftmad.  We had to use Dies. I have used my Spellbinder Reverse Wonky Rectangle dies here and one of the terrific pre-cut flower paper toles form Blue Edge Crafts. Finished with a little string and a label die that was in my collection.
